I had a hard time finding actual virtual tours online but finally came across the website listed above that had many options to choose from, mostly relating to the social sciences. I chose a virtual tour on African wildlife which I would probably use in K-3rd grade classrooms. I viewed a tour of the elephant plains along with live video of a bald eagle. Most of the videos were live so there wasn't a lot of action, however there were previous recordings that captured movement. I think that this would be a great resource to use in the classroom that would make the students feel they were a part of what was happening. This is something I could have playing on the big screen during free time as well. Overall, great resource.

We love to read!
Tate loves reading his books lately! He also loves to look at pictures of himself, he finds it quite hillarious. (o: Aparently it's true what they say, reading promotes language development. Tate is quickly picking up on new words. So far his vocab consists of: Dog, ball, Mom, Daddy, all done (not clearly), up, uh oh, more, and pretty. Most of these are pretty clear but some only Mom and Dad can decode.
Ed Tech. Entry #1
What tools of technology do you use in your role as a Central student?
My computer and the computers provided to me on campus. I utilize the internet frequently to research topics for class. I also access Blackboard daily to check the online syllabus, assignments for individual courses and to keep up to date with grades. I check both email accounts at lease e.o.d. and keep in touch with friends, family, professors, and classmates this way. Facebook is a guilty addiction of mine, however I don't use it to stalk people, I just like to keep up with current pics (especially of babies). I do not own a fancy phone with internet (or unlimited texts) or an ipad, knoodle or whatever the new techno book machine is called. It's amazing I am still able to communicate with the human race. (o:
What would you like to have to add to these tools, and how would this help you do your work???
Hmmmmmm................. If I had an unlimited amount of money I might purchase every new piece of technology, but I don't like to read directions so I would probably end up throwing it all in the back of my closet. Honestly the only addition I could see as helpful RIGHT NOW as a student would be a smaller, portable laptop to take notes on in class and to store assignments on. Oh, I just thought of one more thing, a new printer for my home office so I could print at my leisure.
